General Election 2010: Scotland's main parties to pit their wits in four live TV debates
TELEVISION debates have become one of the themes of this election, and four are to take place north of the Border.
They will involve Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy, the Conservatives' only Scottish MP David Mundell and the Liberal Democrats' Alistair Carmichael. The SNP has yet to confirm whether it will be represented by First Minister Alex Salmond or the party's Westminster leader Angus Robertson. There has been speculation deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon might represent the party, although a source said this was less likely.
The BBC's Politics Show has invited representatives of the four main parties to appear next Sunday as a warm-up to the main debates.
The first full debate will be on STV on Tuesday, 20 April.
There will be two on Sunday, 25 April – on Sky's Adam Boulton show and on the BBC.
The final debate, which will also take place on the BBC, will be held on 2 May, just four days before voters go to the polls.
