Foulkes hits out at Government's plans to cut back on Asbos
LOTHIANS Labour MSP George Foulkes has hit out at the SNP over its plans to cut back on Asbos.
And he said if the Scottish Government wanted to concentrate more on prevention of antisocial behaviour it would have to come up with hard cash to do so.
He said: "It seems daft to abandon something which has shown it can work in certain circumstances with nothing to put in its place. There is a lot of concern about antisocial behaviour – in the whole range of crime, it's probably what causes most disturbance among ordinary people."
Community Safety Minister Fergus Ewing announced earlier this week the Government was switching its emphasis to prevention and early intervention.
Mr Foulkes said: "Of course we're all in favour of prevention, but when I have asked questions about how much money they are going to put into it, I've not had a straight answer."
