CIty's design champ 'mute'
A HERITAGE group has accused Edinburgh's design champion Sir Terry Farrell of remaining "mute" while rows raged over controversial new buildings proposed for the Capital.
The Architectural Heritage Society of Scotland claimed the city was being saddled with sub-standard developments and poorly designed new landmarks.
It argued a vacuum in the planning system meant no-one was able to exert influence to ensure high-quality designs.
AHSS spokesman Euan Leitch said: "There is a perception in Edinburgh that the need for economic investment overrides the desire for good design and that the planning department must accept proposals already agreed by the economic development team."
