Cash-for-honours ruling is a boost for PM
THERE was further good news for Mr Brown following today's by-election results when it emerged no one will be charged in the long-running cash-for-honours investigation.
The Crown Prosecution Service was today expected to confirm no charges will be brought against former Prime Minister Tony Blair or members of his inner circle after the 16-month investigation.
Mr Blair's chief fundraiser Lord Levy, his director of government relations Ruth Turner and Labour donor Sir Christopher Evans, along with the former head teacher Des Smith, were all arrested over claims people received honours in return for giving money to Labour and other parties.
The investigation was sparked by SNP MP Angus MacNeil's complaint to police.
Mr MacNeil said today's news was "quite extraordinary" and it now seemed that the CPS was "trying to tell us it's all a wild goose chase."
Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell said there were still many questions to be answered.
