Policeman 'overjoyed' at returning to his first force
AN assistant chief constable with Lothian and Borders Police is set to leave the force to take up a new job as deputy chief constable at Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.
ACC Mike McCormick, 49, is set to take up his post in the early summer.
He first joined Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary in 1984, and in September 2008 he was made assistant chief constable with Lothian and Borders.
Mr McCormick said: "I am overjoyed with my new appointment and to return to my local force. I leave friends and colleagues with a heavy heart. However, to return to my home force and to the strong community ties of Dumfries and Galloway is a challenge and privilege".
