Police to join fundraiser for quake victims
SENIOR police officers and politicians are set to attend a charity dinner to help raise funds to buy an ambulance for victims of the south-east Asia earthquake.
Lothian and Borders Police have linked up with the West Lothian Multicultural Forum for the gala event on Sunday.
More than 100 people have been invited to raise funds for victims of last October's earthquake that killed 87,000 people and left 3.5 million people homeless.
Livingston MP Jim Devine, MSPs Bristow Muldoon and Mary Mulligan, and Shah Jamal, the Pakistani Vice Consul for Scotland, will also be among the guests.
Chief Superintendent Jimmy Coupland, Divisional Commander for West Lothian, said: "The idea was put forward for raising money to buy an ambulance for the earthquake victims and we hope this Sunday's event will be a success."
Richmond Davies, chair of the West Lothian Multicultural Forum, said: "In response to the earthquake in south-east Asia, the Forum has distributed over 5000 worth of antibiotics to two camps in the Islamabad and Fateh Jhang regions in Pakistan."
The dinner is being held at 6pm in the Raj Poot Restaurant in Pumpherston.
