Police hunt for white van driver in Kevin Carroll murder probe
POLICE officers investigating the Glasgow gangland execution of Kevin Carroll say want to trace the driver of a van who they believe could provide "vital information".
• Police pictured at the scene of the murder in January
The 29-year-old, who was known to have underworld links, was shot dead while sitting in the back seat of car outside an ASDA store in the Robroyston area of the city on January 13.
Detectives are still hunting three masked men who fled from the scene in a blue Volkswagen Golf which was later found burnt out in
Yetts Hole Road, Airdrie, around six miles from the scene
Strathclyde Police today said a white Ford Transit van had been spotted on the road between 1pm and 3pm and would have been present when the vehicle was set alight.
They said it was "imperative" that they trace whoever was in the van and urged any other witnesses to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Michael Orr said: "We are keen to speak to whoever was driving this transit van on the afternoon of Wednesday January 13.
"The driver may be able to assist us in our enquiries and I would urge whoever was in the van to come forward.
"I understand that people may not have approached us as they think that they never saw anything. Please let us be the judge of that."
The weapons used in the shooting were found hidden behind Coatbridge library on January 26.
Strathclyde police have set up the email - Kevincarrollenquiry@strathclyde.pnn.police.uk - to receive information on the murder from members of the public.
