Police chief praises departing colleague

CHIEF Constable David Strang has praised a departing assistant chief constable who is set to leave Lothian and Borders Police for another force.

ACC Mike McCormick, 49, is set to take up his new role as deputy chief constable with Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary in the early summer.

Chief Constable Strang said: "We are delighted with Mr McCormick's promotion. We wish him every success in his new post and would like to take this opportunity to thank him for the valuable contribution he has made to Lothian and Borders Police."

ACC McCormick first joined Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary in 1984. In September 2008, he was selected for the post of Assistant Chief Constable Territorial Policing in Lothian and Borders.
