Police step up hunt for missing Edinburgh woman

POLICE in Edinburgh have targeted homes in the city with 6,000 leaflets in a bid to find out what happened to missing woman Elizabeth 'Betty' Brown.

• Elizabeth Brown captured on CCTV footage

The 55-year-old was last spotted on CCTV leaving a bus in the city's Nicholson Street on May 28 and was reported missing on June 1.

Lothian and Borders Police say she has not contacted her family or access her bank accounts.

She is 5ft 7in with fair hair and glasses and was wearing a black jacket, open neck blouse, blue jeans and black shoes, and was carrying two large Aldi carrier bags when she was last seen.

Chief Inspector Allison Strachan said he is trying to trace her movements after she stepped off the number 3 LRT bus and said they hoped to "jog the memories" of people who may have seen her.

"We know that she crossed the street and visited the cash machine at the Royal Bank of Scotland on Nicolson Street.

"The trail ends there, and we are appealing for anyone who can help us establish her movements after this point to get in touch."
