Police probe caravan fire
POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire which was started in a caravan and spread to the roof of a Prestonfield house.
A man who was asleep inside the property on Peffermill Road had a lucky escape after being alerted by paramedics, who happened to be passing in an ambulance at the time.
The fire service said, after dealing with the incident at around 3am on June 11, that there had also been gas cylinders inside the caravan.
A police spokesman said: "A caravan that was in the driveway of a property was set alight before flames destroyed the building along with two vehicles that were also parked up.
"No-one was injured and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible for setting the fire. Anyone that can assist is asked to contact police."
