Police begin talks to end airport siege
Thailand: Police began talks with anti-government protesters blockading Bangkok's Don Muang airport today, a senior police officer said, and will move against them if negotiations fail to bring the siege to an end.
"We are asking them to allow the airport to resume operations," a police negotiator said.
Brazil: Flood victims waded through waist-deep water into mud-filled houses in the country's devastated south, where neighbours set up patrols to keep looters away.
