This year’s International Polar Bear Day sees the good news that the long-term recovery of polar bear populations continues apace and things are looking good for these iconic animals.
In recent decades environmentalists have issued calls for action and presented petitions which claimed these poster boys of global warming alarmism were on the very point of extinction.
But in fact, the most recent official assessments could not identify any sub-population in decline and all available data showed the numbers of these versatile creatures rising.
Scientists found they were healthy, had access to abundant prey, were well distributed and adapting to any changes in sea ice so the days of doom and gloom are definitely over.
