Plea to help disabled staff
A LOTHIANS MP has added his support to a Commons appeal to raise employers' awareness of the Disability Discrimination Act.
Linlithgow MP Michael Connarty was inspired by the tale of local government officer Roger Lewis, 45, who fought a four-year battle with his employer for assistance to continue in his job after going blind.
Mr Connarty said: "I am concerned that despite recent anti-discrimination legislation, hard-working people like Roger Lewis are at risk of losing their employement because they are not getting the support and flexibility they need from their employer to help them in adapting to their disability. For these reasons I am supporting Roger."
