Play highlights threat of STDs
A PLAY about sexually transmitted diseases has formed the centre point of a conference about the issue.
Teenagers, politicians and experts gathered at Edinburgh University earlier this week for the Young Voices – Strong Words conference.
More than 150 people watched the play by the Lyceum Youth Theatre, called One Thing Leads To Another, and it was followed by a debate about sexual health.
Organisers Caledonia Youth said it was a brave approach to an increasingly important issue.
Chief executive Hawys Kilday said: "By giving this platform to young people it let us hear their opinions first-hand on the issues of today, sparked off by what was a zealous and very professional performance. So we listened, debated and learned some more."
The event was also timed to celebrate the charity's 40th birthday and was joined by a delegation from the Scottish Youth Parliament.
