Play centre wins backing

A BID to extend a city nursery has been granted, despite concerns from a local councillor.

Owners of the Bright Spark day nursery in Saughton will now be able to increase the number of children and staff there.

At a meeting of the council's planning committee, Corstorphine/Murrayfield Conservative councillor Jeremy Balfour said the nursery was in breach of current consent and should be investigated. However, his appeal for a site visit to be held before approval was rejected by the committee.
