Play has magnetic appeal
TEN-YEAR-OLD Angus Kunkler is to take the part of James Clerk Maxwell in a new play about the life of the great Scottish scientist.
He and other Edinburgh Academy boys will join professional actors Andrew Dallmeyer and Michael Elder in The Spectrum at the Academy on Henderson Row. James Clerk Maxwell, born on the city’s India Street in 1831, was one of Scotland’s finest scientists.
He was educated at the Academy before moving on to Edinburgh University.
His pioneering work on electricity and magnetism influenced Einstein and ultimately led to television and the internet. The show aims to raise money for the Clerk Maxwell Cancer Research Fund, a Scots charity researching the use of electromagnetic radiation to fight cancer.
The Spectrum runs on October 9, 10 and 12. Tickets are 15 and 10.
