An eight-week-old white lion cub bares his teeth with a roar yesterday as he receives his first medical check-up at the Serengeti Park zoo in Hodenhagen, Germany.

The zoo is currently experiencing a big-cat bonanza – even if they are only small cats at present. Eight cubs, including four eight-week-old white lions and four 16-week-old white tigers, have been born at  the park, and have yet to be named.
