Pet poisonings on the increase
THE number of pets being treated after accidental poisoning is rising, it has emerged.
The pet care charity PDSA said there has been a 73 per cent rise in the number of poisonings it has had to refer to the Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS) since 2002.
"Most cases of poisoning are due to a pet accidentally eating a substance or owner error," PDSA senior veterinary surgeon Elaine Pendlebury said. "But the only way of reducing the number of such poisoning cases is to highlight the dangers to owners."
