PET Shop Boys, the most successful double-act in UK pop music history, plan to resurrect a character from their 2001 musical Closer To Heaven, on which they collaborated with Jonathan Harvey, and bring her to the Fringe.

Speaking on the documentary BBC Radio 2 Pet Shop Boys: The Pop Kids last night, Chris Lowe revealed, “We have been in discussion with Jonathan Harvey about writing a one woman show for Billie Trix, played by Frances Barber, and taking it to Edinburgh - Edinburgh doesn’t know about this by the way.”

In the new show, which Neil Tennant described as “almost like a cabaret piece” the character, an ageing club hostess, would “tell us the story of her life and sing us a few songs,” Chris continued, adding, “We are very excited about that and hopefully that will happen.”

The revelation came just ahead of today’s release of Pet Shop Boys 13th studio album, Super.
