Asked yesterday if Celtic still “needed three or four” new faces, Rodgers said: “Absolutely. There’s no change. I’ve been pretty clear, since the end of last season, what we need.”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the club missed out on two of his top three signings this summer.

Despite landing Odsonne Edouard for a club record transfer fee of £9m, the Celts have missed out on other opportunites to strengthen their squad.

Legendary Chelsea skipper Dennis Wise has tipped Rangers to topple rivals Celtic in the first Old Firm game of the season.

The two Glasgow giants clash a week on Sunday with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers visiting Parkhead.

Speaking on Sky Sports The Debate, Wise said: “I can see Rangers getting a result and I would love them to get a result.
