Pensioner who shaved head says thanks
A PENSIONER who had her head shaved for charity has thanked those who helped her raise more than £4,000.
Sue Hunter, 75, opted to have her hair cut by celebrity snipper Charlie Miller in order to generate some cash for Cancer Research UK.
Her son Ted, 52, has cancer and lives in America, and it was in a show of unity that she decided to take on the stunt as part of a wider fashion show last month.
She said: "My son is battling it very bravely but he has lost his hair. But it's not just for him, it's for future cancer patients as well."
The great-grandmother, from Stockbridge, is still collecting cash from the effort and said: "I'd just like to thank everyone who has supported me in this – it is very touching.
"I'm up to 4,000 but still when I meet people on the street – and I don't wear a hat – I get 5 and 10 from them."
The fundraising evening at Stockbridge House also included live music and an auction of donated clothes.
