Pedestrian killed by car on rural road

A MAN died after being struck by a car on a rural road 
yesterday.

The accident happened at about 4.50am on the A85 near Pennyfuir cemetery in Oban.The man died at the scene.

The 54-year-old driver was uninjured but was left shocked, police said. Officers appealed for witnesses.

Meanwhile, a man remained in hospital in the Highlands last night after a two-car crash near Inverness on Friday.

A Renault Megane and a Vauxhall Astra collided on the A82 around 3.30pm. The Megane ended up on its roof; its driver was treated at the scene before being taken by air ambulance to Raigmore hospital, Inverness, with serious abdominal injuries.

Three people – a male driver, a woman and a baby – were in the Astra. The driver was taken to hospital by ambulance for a head injury. The woman and baby were 
uninjured.
