Pedestrian dies after car collision

An ELDERLY pedestrian has been killed and a driver hurt following a road collision, police have said.

The 76-year-old man died at the scene of the accident in Hillhead Road, Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire.

Police said the incident happened at about 11:30am and involved one car.

The driver, a 44-year-old man, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in an ambulance for treatment.

The extent of his injuries are not yet known.

Strathclyde Police said Hillhead Road was closed between Auchinairn Road and Wallacewell Road, with traffic diverted via Stanburn Road, while inquiries were being carried out.

The cause of the crash continues to be under investigation, police said yesterday.
