Patch-up closes parliament

THE Scottish Parliament building will close to the public for a week from tomorrow while maintenance work is carried out.

Even MSPs and staff have been told they cannot get into the building this weekend because electrical maintenance will mean power cuts.

Other work scheduled to coincide with next week’s half-term recess includes floor sanding, redecoration, installation of new hand driers and energy-saving lighting, as well as thorough cleaning.

Scaffolding is also expected to go up around certain parts of the building as inspection of the external cladding continues following recent high winds.

Scottish Gas will be carrying out excavations in Reid’s Close. The building is due to reopen on February 20.

Open or closed it won't make any difference.

What a misleading headline. The Parliament is closed next week for recess- it's not closed because they're doing repairs.

Good! No doubt they'll still get paid for doing nothing though.

What a bargain that building was - only half a billion. How lucky we are.
