Passenger claimed he had a gun on flight to Egypt
A MAN who claimed to have a gun while on board a flight from Edinburgh to Egypt has admitted causing a breach of the peace.
Vytauas Gulbinavicius, 25, from Aberdeen, pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday to putting cabin crew and passengers in a state of fear and alarm.
The incident took place on April 30 on board a FlyGlobespan flight from Edinburgh to Sharm El Sheikh.
The Boeing 737 with 130 passengers on board was due to leave Edinburgh at 9.50am, but was halted on the runway after Gulbinavicius told a member of the cabin crew that he had a gun.
The flight eventually flew out an hour late.
Defence agent Elspeth McDougall told Sheriff Fiona Reith QC that her client was pleading guilty to the charge.
Sheriff Reith called for background reports and sentence was deferred until August 8.
