Parking angels descend on Capital to pay drivers' fees
MOTORISTS in the city centre couldn't believe their luck when a gang of parking angels offered to pay their fees today.
The offer seemed too good to be true for many drivers as the "meter maids" had to convince them there was no catch.
The stunt was dreamed up by millionaire businessman Paul Dickens, managing director of letting agents Alba Residential, who said he was frustrated by the difficulties facing motorists in Edinburgh.
Mr Dickens, managing director of letting agents Alba Residential, said: "Edinburgh drivers get a raw deal in the city centre, especially when it comes to parking.
"If you're lucky enough to find a space, you have to then spend a small fortune in parking fees."
The tycoon got the idea after reading about the original 1960s Meter Maids service in Surfers' Paradise, Australia, where bikini-wearing girls worked to attract consumers back into the city centre.
