Palin rings alarm bells
I read of the speech by Sarah Palin (your report, 5 September) with a growing sense of visceral alarm and can only hope that what she said is only the empty rhetoric common to all election speeches irrespective of which country they are in – the philosophy of the cracker barrel and the values of mom's apple pie; the same ideology that sees no dichotomy in promoting Pentecostalist Christianity and at the same time killing animal for pleasure or, in the case of polar bears, for "
Perhaps her comment that "we can work together to make sure God's will be done" is the most telling and alarming. This, tied to book-banning and teaching creationism, points to a return to the values of the inquisition; this is something that must be viewed with great suspicion
