Pacemaker dog appeal is halfway there

A CANCER sufferer is halfway towards paying for lifesaving treatment for her beloved pet dog following a sponsored walk.

Fran Kane, of Restalrig, has raised 1000 towards the cost of a pacemaker for her German shepherd Bear.

The pair managed to complete the walk to Musselburgh last week, despite their ill health.

Ms Kane, 54, said she had relied on 18-month-old Bear for support during her battle with bowel cancer. She was devastated when she discovered he had a heart condition.

She said she had been overwhelmed by the generosity of the public who have donated to help her, but after the 2000 operation, she will have to raise a similar amount for ongoing treatment.

She said: "We need to do it as soon as possible as Bear is just getting worse.

"He gets tired very easily and isn't his usual self."

"I'm very attached to him, and don't know what I'd do without him."

She has set up a special account for her fundraising at the Abbey National bank. For anyone wishing to donate, the account number is 05100219, and the sort code is 09-01-27.
