Over-55s not too old to be organ donors

MORE than half of people over the age of 55 believe they are too old or too ill to become organ donors, research has suggested.

A survey for NHS Blood and Transplant found those in this age group were twice as likely as younger people to think they would not qualify as donors.

However, experts said there was always a need for a range of donors from all age groups.
