Worth a butcher’s

On opening my Scotsman (1 March) there was a glorious sight: a photograph of a butcher’s shop window, including a gigot of mutton (too large in my estimation to be tasteless lamb), a sirloin roast of beef and below, a shoulder of mutton and a rib roast.

I then read Lori Anderson’s most interesting article on what the Sudbury family butcher, JBS, has had to tolerate from the some members of the public, who do not wish to see window displays.

I so agree with Ms Anderson in all she says, which is probably not surprising as I am the daughter of a one-time highly respected butcher who had three shops in Edinburgh.
