Helen Todd of Ramblers Scotland (Friends of The Scotsman, 13 August) is right to ask for greater control over the building of tracks which produce ugly scars across our wild lands.

Unfortunately, she is wrong to target the shooting and stalking estates, which at least do not erect ugly wind farms at the end of their tracks.

Much greater damage is being caused by the widespread development of wind farms with their wider access roads and constant flow of lorries which are tearing apart our iconic landscapes.
