The announcement of reduced troop numbers in Scotland (your report, 6 March) should be welcomed by the Scottish Government. The figure of 12,500 personnel to be based here is probably still larger than the defence force needed by an independent Scotland.
What we now need to see are proposals from the Scottish Government as to how they are going to structure Scottish defence. It must include cyber detection and other modern threats.
