APPARENTLY Tesco is to put more “wonky fruit and vegetables” on special offer in an attempt to “educate the public it remains edible”.

May I say it is not the public that needs educated here, since it is Tesco that tells farmers and other producers that their otherwise healthy carrots, potatoes, apples etc are wrongly-coloured, misshapened and unsuitable for presentation in its supermarkets.

Tesco states misshapen produce gets sent to Eastern Europe where people are willing to pay less for it.

It would appear to me that many people here would be willing to pay less for such produce but that the problem is that Tesco is unwilling to sell it cut-price.
