Catching the last post has taken on a whole new meaning. Sandy Simpson (Letters, 25 November) wrote of his shock upon discovering his Royal Mail revised collection time on his local post box was 9am.
I was similarly dismayed at reading this on our Edinburgh postbox.
This may be suitable for those en route to work, but presents a disturbing image of bleary-eyed pensioners and the like stumbling to post their Scotsman crosswords and other urgent missives in their pyjamas.
This means a whole extra day to deliver mail.
Bring back the 5pm slot!
