Strange charity

How can the charity leader Ronnie Saez be able to accept a £500,000 redundancy pay-off from the Glasgow East Regeneration Agency (your report, 16 January)?

The agency’s fundamental aim is to tackle poverty and he is
already set to receive a reasonable pension.

Unfortunately, this sort of thing is becoming all too
common. No wonder we are a nation of cynics.

I think I will set up a charity called “I’ve Had Enough!” I’d take a nominal wage and provide transparency in charities.

But then we have the wonderful example of Lynne McNicoll and her charity for children’s cancer, Good2Give. All her fund raising goes to the cause. That is admirable.

Charities need people like Lynne who are genuine and
believe in their cause, not their rewards.
