Dan Arnott (Letters, 19 June) asks – rhetorically presumably – whether I am going to welcome the immigrants from the Med to my house and pay for all their needs.
He sums up in just a few words what’s wrong with our selfish society.
If we all helped a little bit, the burden on the few who do already help would be lessened. It’s very simple.
Most of the immigrants are coming to Europe because their lives are awful.
Of course I agree that we can’t open the gates to every single person who wants to come here, but as humans we have a responsibility to help desperate people.
