The text of the fictitious Queen’s Speech from 1983 (your report, 1 August) is a chilling reminder of what might have been, but it is interesting to note that the royal coat of arms at the bottom left hand corner shows the Scottish version.

Are we to infer that the queen would have broadcast this speech from the safety of a nuclear bunker somewhere in Scotland?
