Route cause

The main cause of accidents on the A9 is not high speed but the nature of the road
itself (Platform, 31 July).

It is a long route, through similar terrain, with bends and a mixture of single and dual carriageways.

As a result, motorists, especially visitors, can easily forget which carriageway they are on. Many of the resulting accidents on the single carriageway are head-on collisions resulting in fatalities.

A full upgrade is promised by 2025 but the priority should be to start it now, not install cameras.
