Ring of truth

Jim Sillars (Perspective, 2 July) must have been pleased that on the day his article commenting on the third-division material produced by the SNP was published, Nicola Sturgeon obligingly provided confirmation.

You reported that her source material for the imperative issue of Faslane post-independence was the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.

Brian Wilson has been articulating a similar point for some time in your columns, and on one occasion he memorably described the SNP as giving the impression of “a bunch of chancers who did none of the serious work on the implications of independence” (Perspective, 2 January).

Which has the ring of truth and potentially provides an explanation as to why a spokesman repeating “scaremongering” is about the best that their rebuttal can typically produce.
