Your A to Y (13 December) lists Yosemite as the first national park. Strictly speaking, Yellowstone (1872) was the first national park.

In fairness, however, the US Congress established the Yosemite Grant in 1864, creating a reserve (administered by the state of California) that was the world’s first federally protected natural area.
