Have your say

To ALL those residents of Portobello, Edinburgh, opposed to the siting of the proposed new school on Portobello Park, (your report, 10 January), I say: “Be resolute in your opposition.”

We in Dumbarton have just forced West Dunbartonshire Council to reconsider its plan to site the proposed new Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School on a well used local park. How did we do it? We turned out in force at a meeting of the education sub-committee and made it clear that we were not prepared to accept the loss of this amenity.

It is a strange fact that at a time when we are encouraging people to exercise, the authorities seem to see a local park as an easy option for building on.
