Gary McLelland makes good points (Letters, 29 May). However, the scale of the task in dealing with Islam is much greater than he indicates.
This country is now paying for its political abandonment of Christianity. It is defenceless against Islamic identity and determination. Weak and expedient politics are no match for the grounding of purpose in a powerful deity. Britain’s rejection of the Christian God is forcing it to deal with the Islamic version. Having no god at all is the least helpful option.
