I AM in total agreement about the dangers of cyclists on pavements (Letters, 9 May).
In my local area, we actually have a pavement where cars do three-point turns. During Edinburgh city council’s traffic calming phase, the pavement was enlarged and a couple of bollards arranged around it.
Obviously it would be assumed that drivers would notice it was a pavement. However, the businesses beside it use it as a car park.
The answer to this is simple. Never assume all motorists have sense and put in a few more bollards to prevent access. Then we can all hope that one day pavements will be a safe place for pedestrians.
