Naive views on Green Brigade

RE DANI Garavelli’s article headlined “Trouble In Paradise” (Insight, 15 December). If the Green Brigade ever requires the services of a spin doctor it need look no further than Ms Garavelli. Her article beggars belief and the only thing missing was a suggestion that the Green Brigade was worthy of a nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The article was little more than a number of unchallenged quotes from a Brigade spokesperson supported by like-minded individuals, such as Jeanette Findlay, who has previously drawn criticism from the Celtic board for her comments that IRA chants by the Celtic support were totally acceptable.

Ms Garavelli appears unaware (or unwilling to make any comment) that there is a fine line between nationalism and sectarianism, a line which has been crossed in recent “chants” by the Brigade against Stuart McCall (Motherwell manager) and Frank De Boer (Ajax
manager).
