Have your say

I heard Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom on the radio on Wednesday morning, and got the impression that he didn’t even know that using the term “Bongo Bongo Land” was offensive.

I’ve met a few older people who use unacceptable words – sometimes in the style of fictional TV character Alf Garnett – but are defiant or confused when challenged about them. How can we address this without being accused of totalitarianism? Because it’s not “political correctness gone mad” – they need to understand it’s not all wrong and it’s hurtful.
