I should like to point out to Margaret Curran (“Narrow 
nationalism is a threat to our culture”, Perspective, 21 August) that there is quite a difference between “encouraging people from far and wide to… join us in promoting our culture around the world” and appointing 
English people to the top posts in our national bodies.

Not for us Scots the odd Dane or Spaniard but rather the 
consistency of choosing the 
English to run things here. 
Inferiorism when confronted by our more powerful neighbour?
