I saw the letter asking for leadership and guidance from the industry heads of BAE, Thales, Rolls-Royce, Selex SE and Babcock Clyde (21 March). Why ask them? They are ordinary folk who make mistakes, as we all do. They are not infallible. In fact, in the case of BAE Systems they would appear to be very fallible and they are lucky that many of their products are sold to that most fallible of ministries, the Ministry of Defence, which is hardly a byword for fiscal discipline.
