Contrary to Dr Mary Brown’s belief (Letters, 9 April) the Scottish Socialist Party will not become “a political force”, certainly not with the power, either in Scotland or the UK, to achieve any fundamental change.

The dominant value of money as the primary value and measure of success is entrenched, buttressed by mass society’s techniques of persuasion.
