Doubtful science

May I, on behalf of the Scottish Wild Land Group, welcome the opinion expressed by Diarmid Hearns of the National Trust for Scotland Letters, (31 May): “As a country, we need to better engage all Scots in shaping the kinds of landscapes we wish to live in and enjoy.”

In frequently ignoring the views of local people, the government justifies its actions by claiming that such setting aside of local democracy is in the greater national and, indeed, global interest.

The Scottish Wild Land Group believes that the net reduction in carbon dioxide emissions claimed for wind generation is far from being demonstrably valid beyond all reasonable doubt.
