Clutha concerns

Have your say

Irvine Inglis (Letters, 4 December) is surely not alone in wondering if the rescue efforts at the Clutha bar were not excessively prolonged “while experts argued the toss” (and relatives of the missing agonised).

Some of us even found the procession of police and emergency services spokesmen, local and national politicians, and now celebrities – “paying tribute”, to the victims of course, but then, at wordy length, to each other’s efforts and to the city of Glasgow itself – disturbing. All this before the rescue effort was concluded.

No-one will doubt that everyone involved did their very best, but a niggling concern remains that the parameters of what they felt able to do, in terms of “health and safety” and the pace of the rescue, need to be looked at carefully before the next disaster.
